- Name: Adam Tharp
- Age: 57yrs
- Service Period: Iraq / Afghanistan
- Branch: US Army
- Introduction:
"We grew up in the 80's with the Reagan era, and for a lot of us, it's what we wanted to do. You talk to a lot of Marines...when you hear the national anthem you still get the chill in your spine, you hear the Marine hymn, you get the chill in your spine, and it comes with a whole host of emotions, brotherhood and sense of purpose."
– Adam Tharp
The long procession of brotherhood in those who sacrificially served our Country is just that...long. Instead of (immediately) pursuing a more lucrative career on the civilian side, so many chose to give their time and life, short term and long term, to the cause of defending freedom both here and around the globe. That sense of purpose, and even the joy in service to a cause bigger than yourself, is summed up in Adam Tharp's response when someone says "thank you for your service"..."your welcome!". In Adam's case, it's an enthusiastic reply that demonstrates gratitude for the privilege of serving, and being allowed to do what you love.
This is: "Tharp, a service story".
