Imagine you are a US Marine, Soldier, or Sailor on your way to combat in the bloody Pacific of WWII. On your way, your ship pulls alongside the USS Piedmont and you are entertained, for a short period, by the music you love. You are made to laugh for awhile and forget the awful business at hand. You can thank WWII veteran Bob Laskey, and others like him, for those moments of respite. Bob traveled the Pacific, playing aboard ships and onshore, as part of a formal band, small groups, and variety shows, bringing desperately needed relief to men who might be hearing music for the last time. His journey took him all the way to Tokyo Bay to witness the surrender of the Japanese aboard the USS Missouri.
This is: "Laskey, a service story".
