– Richard Brundage
Many people don’t realize that the Vietnam was America’s first “televised war”. Serving as an armor officer, Richard was one of the pioneers of Army riverine operations, running night ambushes on jungle rivers in III Corps. The second tour, the Army finding out his experience throughout college was in broadcasting, assigned him as the Commander of the northernmost Press Center at Phu Bai. It was here, and later at the DaNang Press Center that he developed and delivered the daily briefings for the international correspondents daily at 5pm in what was to become known affectionately known by the press as “The Five O’clock Follies”. 50 years later he would write the novel by the same name which was published by Amazon in 2019. His style of briefing and work in television led him to pioneer the Army’s first Television News Team traveling the world reporting on military activities. Richard had found his calling.
This is: "Brundage, a service story".
